Republican Gov. Charlie Baker won’t seek reelection next year, according to two sources Wednesday familiar with the conversations, in a move that surprised some in the state’s political class and will ripple down the 2022 ballot in Massachusetts.
One of the most popular governors in the country, Baker was the GOP’s best hope of holding onto the governor’s office in a solidly blue state.
